New to this page, or wondering why you have already liked it? You may have liked this page years ago, back in 2016. I know, a long, long time ago. Life got in the way, and this project took a back seat for a while. But now… I’M BACK BABY!!!
Things have changed a lot since I first drew up plans for The Chronic Meet. Obviously COVID-19 is at the forefront of our minds right now, and many of us are self-isolating to protect our wellbeing and the health of others. Social distancing will save lives, but, it’s hard.
It’s human nature to feel the need to connect with others, so speaking to the same people every single day has its limits. We don’t know how long quarantine will last in the UK, but likely it will take us until the end of April, if not May.
As much as I love my flatmate, my hamster and my two new guinea pigs, I’m lonely. Staying home means A LOT of spare hours to fill, and I know I’m not the only one who is struggling to keep occupied.
So, The Chronic Meet has been reborn! From Friday 10th April until Monday 13th April, I will be running daily activities online. Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement tomorrow!
Once the bank holiday weekend has past, TCM will host weekly drop-in sessions – probably via Zoom/Houseparty (and maybe Twitter) – so you can chat to new people online.
I’ll be thinking up prompts to keep the conversation flowing, so I’ll try and keep the awkward silences to a minimum. Given recent events, I will keep the sessions in Zoom/Houseparty password protected to try and stop the trolls from destroying our fun.
Please share the news with your friends and family, because it will be super awkward for me ( @mindmagicnatter on Twitter) if I’m the only one who shows up. Invitations are open to anyone and everyone, because no-one deserves to feel alone during this crisis.
