I am at the @GovernorVA news conference to finally get answers on if he will sign legislation to end balance medical billing, act on #CON reform or a budget amendment that could significantly reduce funding to ERs 1/10
. @CBS6 has aggressively covered surprise medical billing for months & tracked what appeared to be compromise legislation carried by @BarbaraFavola & @DelegateTorian 2/10
We are also following comprehensive reform to Virginia’s Certificate of Public Needs program that could streamline approval for new medical providers @MarkSicklesVA @VirginiaHHA @mercatus 3/10
With #COVID19 overwhelming every facet of life, I have remained patiently persistent in asking @GovernorVA Office via email roughly twice a week since March 9th about these healthcare issues. But the deadline to act on any of them is Saturday... 5/10
I decided to go in person to @GovernorVA regularly scheduled news conference. His team has diligently updated the public on Mon, Wed & Friday afternoons about their efforts to address #COVID19 6/10
The @GovernorVA addressed the 427 pieces of outstanding legislation on his desk from the General Assembly session that adjourned last month. Said his policy teams are working hard & they WILL meet their Saturday deadline. 7/10
When I pressed about the specific #healthcare issues listed in this thread, I was told we would all have our answers by Monday morning. No indication of whether he would support the balance billing solution or if he’s seriously considering the ER payment cuts 8/10
