Thank you @Devin_Reaves @icmyserenity @YngvildOlsen @PinnacleTC_Hope for participating in our virtual roundtable today! The expertise & experience you bring to your work is inspiring. More to come but here are a few take aways & key themes from today -
COVID-19 is a time of increasing isolation - how do we connect people w/substance use disorder to the care they need while balancing other health risks?
Connection #1: Phones & data plans. Telehealth via phone can help people in need of essential services - but many people lack phones & data plans. When identifying federal funding, don't forget about people experiencing homelessness & without a safety net;
Connection #2: Syringe services programs. These life-saving programs should be considered essential in every state & receive funding to deliver these services.
Connection #3: Reentry services. States/counties releasing people from corrections should communicate w/local harm reduction & treatment services about their plans & find opportunities for connections to care.
Finding connections during a time of increased social isolation is a challenge for all of us, but especially for those working in addiction services. Thanks again for everything you do to find these connections.
