SAN FRANCISCO IT GIRL OF AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE A THREAD! https://twitter.com/cricketsweater/status/1247962119959502848
Lets start with touristy spots. This IT girl . Palace of Fine Arts! Yours truly had the privilege to graduate from High School here (not everyone gets that really) a BEAUTY!
Now, everyone knows the first picture. The famed painted ladies as seen from alamo square. Well those kinds of sights are all throughout the city due to its amazing geography.
The PILLAR of american liberalism . blueprint for progressive policy. SF city hall. With a rotunda cusp compres to that of DĂ´me des Invalides.
Keeping up with the touristy trend. Lets go to another big hitter. Lombard Street. Is not actually the most crooked street in SF but is the most beautiful.
Lets talk about the shining star of the Italian district ( nob hill + adjacencies) Coit Tower. Walking up to it is an urban treat! The views... like Mykonos , Santorini , Monaco. Especially at night!
Let’s get one of the big girls out the way. The Bay Bridge. The 2nd most important bridge in California. I recommend the view from treasure island but a night boat tour is the best way to appreciate!
Lets dial it back a bit. This one’s for my fruity folks. All over America, cities have Lgbt neighborhoods! Well none of them come close to the class and style of San Francisco’s Castro. One small strip of commerce then gorgeous residential victorians all around
Not the biggest in the country. But certainly the best, most gorgeous one. San Francisco Chinatown was the very first one in the country! And to this day the one that is a must see. Home of my fave vegan Chinese food restaurant!
Let’s talk skyline! Gorgeous all around. But botable mentions to the iconic Transamerica Pyramid and the Salesforce tower
Crazy how are only 9 miles by 9 miles big! No wonder everyone wants a piece of us! Now, next up an exact replica of Palais de la Légion d’Honneur in Paris gifted by Alma de Bretteville Spreckels for her love of San Francisco. The Legion of Honor Museum.
This has become more of a “greatest hits” less architecture but imma keep combing both. Golden gate Park! Giant park in the middle of the city, bigger than central park even tho SF is way smaller. Conservatory, Japanese gardens, Academy of Sciences and de young museum! (And more)
When you are America’s IT girl, everyone will try to tear you down and point your flaws while their house is on fire! You’re on a pedestal, what you do they follow. The influence, the conversations! This thread shall continue!
