at this point you really just have to take for granted that a centrist's first and foremost interest -- in any political discourse -- is whichever path allows them to care the least. it's why they'll always favor fascists

fascism promises comfort, stability, and the maintaining of the status quo for "regular people", so long as they permit it to hunt down anyone outside of that (ever shrinking) demographic.

initial phases, fascism at face value is much more appealing to a centrist than leftism, an ideology rooted in understanding the work necessary to achieve lasting change.

for a person removed enough from the harsh realities of the world to relate to politics as a realm (2/3)

separate from it, and for whom politics are a nuisance to be expected to care about in the times they become relevant, the ideology which allows and even encourages their apathy will always be the one they prefer. (3/3)
