A series of letters published by @CommonsHomeAffs reveals that Home Secretary Priti Patel has repeatedly refused requests to give evidence about the Coronavirus and other issues to MPs. She’s appeared just once in almost six months.
In fact, it’s once in 9 months. Her last and only appearance before this important committee was last October. Priti Patel offered private briefings with ministers & officials after being asked 4 times since Jan to attend ...
On April 3, Cooper told Patel Committee had set date of April 15, saying “there is no reason for further delay”. Patel responded saying “I am disappointed at the increasingly adversarial tone of our exchanges” and promising only to appear “towards the end of the month”.
Cooper has pointed out that other Secretaries of State including @RobertBuckland have appeared before their respective committees. (Buckland twice in fact in the past few weeks.)
