NEW: I just spoke w/ Rev. Jesse Jackson, who had endorsed Bernie Sanders in a big moment for Sanders. He said Bernie didn't have the right "infrastructure" to build support among black voters.

Jackson told me he will now support Joe Biden but isn't sure he will campaign him.
Rev. Jesse Jackson said he sees Joe Biden as too “modest.”

“Our needs are not modest,” Jackson said of African Americans. “We are the most uninsured, the most profiled, the most jailed. We work harder, make less, live under stress and die earlier. That is our predicament.”
Rev. Jackson said he has “enough political sense” to choose Joe Biden over Pres Trump but wants to see Biden back medicare-for-all & other policies. He said Biden needs more of a plan for black people who were his firewall in the race.

"‘The firewall has needs too," he said.
Joe Biden has already said he will pick a woman for his VP and put a black woman on the Supreme Court if elected. Biden also won the nomination by getting overwhelming support from black voters.

Now, the question is about turnout in the general election.
Reminder: Rev Jesse Jackson & Joe Biden have history. After a failed presidential campaign in 1984, Jackson ran again in 1988, when he faced off w/ Biden. At the NAACP’s 1986 convention, Biden told a mostly black audience to reject Jackson's candidacy. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/henrygomez/joe-biden-jesse-jackson-2020-election
