Why Man United's Fred is bang average, a thread
I made this purely because some people suddenly rate him so highly and I don't agree, this is just based on some facts and opinions of my own
Dribbling
Fred has been criticised for not able to control the ball properly at his early days at United. But no doubt he has improved. He is more comfortable on the ball and is one of his stronger aspects

Shooting
Fred was never known for his shooting, as his 0 goals in the premier league suggests. His decision making in zones near the penalty area is poor, most of his long shots are not accurate. He doesn't run inside the penalty area often so I can't really judge his finishing.

Passing
Fred isn't capable of switch passes nor long passes, but he links the defence and attack with short passes. He is capable of using minimal space to create quick one-two's to bring the ball forward. He fits in the United system, which is to break through with little space

Work-rate and defending
Fred has amazing work rate and is very hardworking, he has great stamina. In defence, Fred is small but can use his work-rate and defensive skills to cover that. You may think he is like a Kanté player, but he lacks the defensive skill.

He is the most dribbled past player in the PL. He often goes for the ball to force his opposition to make a decision quickly. But he either gets dribbled past or commits a foul. He is neither a defensive player nor an offensive player
Personal opinions
He is an average player but holds an important role in the current United system, I will say he is a Harry Winks with less defensive awareness. With Pogba back and Bruno's arrival, I don't think he will be getting as much game time.
