↣ day 2! ↢

today i'll be talking a bit about my favorite photog types, styles, and techniques, as well as the process of developing your "own style" 💫
heads up: i won't be talking much about technical stuff (ISO, aperture, etc.) this week since i believe there's merit to experimenting unrestricted. however, do learn the basic rules before you actively try to break them! our exposure members have shared plenty of tips ♡
post-2018, i mostly use my nikon with the 18-55mm kitlens on manual ISO/shutter/aperture and autofocus. photos taken on my point-n-shoot were almost all fully auto. while finetuning your settings during the shoot is a valuable skill (esp. for work), do what's comfortable for you!
there are many types/styles of photog inc. but not limited to:

↣ photojourn
↣ landscape
↣ portrait
↣ architecture
↣ fashion
↣ fine art
↣ street (which sir brian focused his week on!)

you don't have to focus on one; dabble in multiple and find which ones you gravitate to!
i personally love event photog! specifically performances & concerts. i find something beautiful in capturing another artist in their element (or perhaps the audience/photographer's feeling of awe) ✨

concert photog is fun because the lights & colors can turn out gorgeous! here's some more pics HAHA going✈️fansite

[season of gfriend (2018), jinhyuk s.o.l fanmeet (2019)] [stan gfriend and up10tion 🌸🍯]

1: d3400 + kitlens
2-3: sony dsc-wx500
4: d3400 + 18-105mm (borrowed lol)
other performances like class projects and dances are also fun to shoot! the photos end up looking like a moment frozen in time, and at the same time portray the dancer's movement 🌟

landscape, travel, and nature photog are more of my favorites! the world is already beautiful—now it's just a matter of highlighting it. 🍃
objects can also be very interesting subjects! you have a lot of room to play with angles, lighting, mood, and more. photos of the same object/s in the same location can have vastly different vibes depending on how you choose to take it.
here's some more! with this thread i challenged myself to not only keep practicing, but to find new ways to view my everyday surroundings. tho i haven't been updating it (oops), i learned a lot from it.

try it out too! you might surprise yourself 😊 https://twitter.com/viridaes/status/1241268950597427201?s=20
now, what about your "style"? how do you make yourself stand out from the rest?

answer: that's not necessarily the goal. like with other arts (drawing, writing, etc.) one's style may come out naturally. it's not something you can force without it feeling quite off.
i like vibrant colors & poignant moods for my photos, and i prefer taking the types of photos noted above. maybe you could stay thats my style. there are plenty of photographers with iconic styles: brandon woelfel & bruce gilden come to mind.

but: style doesn't define an artist.
in all art disciplines some people struggle to settle on a certain style, and that's okay!! you don't need a unifying theme or vibe to your collection (unless that's what you're going for). in fact, versatility is a wonderful trait that can open many doors for you.
if you want to have consistency, if you want to stand out with your style, then absolutely go for it! follow your heart!

just don't be pressured to meet your own expectations when it comes to style. your photos speak for themselves. your artistic voice will make itself heard. 🌺
that's it for this thread! tune in tomorrow (ehem, later) for a look into how i do editing :3
