I was in the mood for some sad, baby Shiro...

“Shiro, buddy, I love you a hell of a lot; but you really need to go home…”
Matt sighed loudly as he leaned over the sweating form of his best friend who was currently doing yet another set of bench presses.

“How many times have you been in this week? Not that I’m complaining mind you, but I really think this isn’t exactly healthy…”
At least three times a day for the last week, Shiro answered Matt’s question in his head as he put the weights down and closed his eyes. He had already come into the gym that morning before work for a good 2 hours, and was now rounding out a good 3 hour session that same night.
Shiro had *sort* of been seeing someone for the past few months. He should have been pretty excited about it, but there was just something so… boring about the guy. They only ever went on the same dates, to the same places, and did the exact same things-
no matter what Shiro suggested. He was always the one to instigate as well, and frankly it was beyond exhausting.

But Shiro also didn’t like being alone so he hung in there through the boringness of it all, not even bothering to push for anything beyond-
a couple kisses and light petting…

That was, until he had seen the guy he was dating out for a night on the town with someone else. Shiro had approached them, not exactly angry, just confused. He had thought they were exclusive, to say the least.
‘I didn’t think you’d mind?’

‘You always seemed bored’

‘Did you even want anything else?’

The questions had come as an utter shock to Shiro’s system and he bit at the inside of his cheek to keep from either crying or punching the guy in that face.
The other man simply shrugged his shoulders when Shiro didn’t respond and walked away with his date.

So here he was, working off the stress and icky feelings associated with being dumped.
Shiro wasn’t even sure they were together enough to *actually* warrant breaking up, but those dark and stormy emotions were there in the back of his mind regardless.

“Shiro, go home. Have a drink and order a damn pizza!”
Matt pulled the larger man up into a sitting position and gave him a pat on the shoulder before wandering away.

“Hell, if you can get laid, do that too!”

---
Shiro only lived a few blocks from his gym, usually opting to go for a warm up and cool down jog before and after his workouts . Instead, he decided to check out his favourite little bodega, picking up a couple of protein shakes as a treat to himself before going to pay.
The register area was covered in flyers for cover bands performing at the local community centre, art classes, a lawnmower for sale and what Shiro see’s is a new pizza place. He quickly pulls out his phone and types in the number under ‘pizza’, while he waits in line.
A hyper-active little man called Shiro’s name just as he’s finishing typing in the number, he hadn’t realized it was his turn to pay.

“Sorry, sorry!”
The larger man gives an apologetic smile as he listens to the little man speak about the impressive qualities of his third daughter to Shiro for the umteenth time. Of course he knows it’s some sort of set-up, but since the man never pushes Shiro any further there’s no harm.
“You look terrible, here take a chocolate, my boy.” The man points directly between Shiro’s eyes, before waving a hand downwards towards the array of candy in front of him.
There was never any point in arguing, so Shiro picked up a candy bar and thanked the owner before heading home.

Shiro lived in quite a nice little apartment block, managing to get an expansive two bedroom place for an absolute steal.
It was modern and lovely, with a spacious balcony to which Shiro immediately transformed into his own little private garden. He also adopted a grumpy, enormous, fuzzy black cat that had just shown up one day and hadn’t left him alone since.

It was nice but… so quiet.
Sure, after his accident having a steady routine was super important; but when the majority of his waking life consisted of going to work and the gym, he had to really put himself out there to try and find some sort of normalcy.
Shiro sighed, heading straight for the little carousel of fancy drinks he kept in the corner of his sitting area. Most were gifts from his boss, holiday bottles of wine and fancy birthday whiskey. He eyed the variety and almost laughed at just how much there was.
“Kinda makes me feel a bit unseen eh, Black?” Shiro whispered softly to his cat but all he got for his efforts was simply a flick of a fuzzy tail.

Two hours later and Shiro had *really* wished that he had taken his feral cat’s silence as a warning to not start drinking.
“Blackkkkkk love meeeeeeee” Shiro slurred, reaching over across the couch for his cat, only for the void of darkness to glare at him in warning.

“Why will no one love meeeeee?!!!”

There might have been some bad choices made, but really, hindsight was always 20/20.
Shiro wrapped the hand-knit blanket that was usually slung over the back of his couch around his entire body, slumping over to burrito himself in warmth.

“Don’t wanna cry… Just need to… work out more?” He asked the cat, still somewhat surprised that no answer came.
Well, not from Black at least.

Shiro’s stomach took that moment to growl, informing the large drunk man that one, he was *very* drunk, and two he hadn’t eaten anything since lunch. He frowned at this information, that just wouldn’t do at all.
“Blackkkk… Pweese make me something? Pretty please with a cherry on top?” Shiro attempted to give his unimpressed cat the most adorable puppy dog eyes he could muster, only for the ball of fur to stand up, stretch, then hop off the couch and glide away.
“Wrong look? ‘m sorry!!!”

Was there even anything in the fridge? Shiro knew better than this, he was always so well prepared, but it was also the end of the work week so of course he was running low on groceries.
Just as the poor drunk man had resigned himself to a sad supper of soup and crackers, a brilliant thought popped into his head.

“Oh! PIZZA!!!” Shiro sat up so fast he ended up getting tangled in the blanket, toppling over onto the floor.
It didn’t faze him though, now that he was on mission.

His phone was sitting on the kitchen island where he had left it, previously preoccupied with pouring himself a large glass of alcohol rather than perusing the internet and looking at memes.
Shiro scooped it up with a smile on his face, cheeks warm with drunkenness as he pulled up the number for ‘pizza’

“I deserve a treat right Black?”
The buff dork looked around to find his cat nestled into an adorable little bed Shiro had crafted out of a cardboard box, stuffed with a fluffy pillow and labeled aptly ‘Black’s Castle’ on the side.

“*Yes Shiro, that sounds like a good idea!*”
In a falsetto voice he pretended to say what the cat was probably thinking, although it was more likely along the lines of ‘you are such a silly human’.

So that’s what the sad, drunk man did, pressing the call button so that he could order his pizza.
Someone picked up after two rings, wishing Shiro a good evening and asking how they could help him. Shiro absolutely beamed, so proud of himself for actually going through with getting a delivery pizza.

“Yes, can I have a medium, pepperoni pizza with extra cheese???”
He could almost cry with how excited he was, already imagining how delicious it would taste.

“I’m sorry?” The voice on the other line, a young man it seemed to Shiro, answered with resounding confusion.

“O-oh… do you not have pepperoni?”
Shiro answered with such an overwhelmingly worried tone. He wouldn’t mind a veggie pizza, as long as it had cheese on it. The voice on the other line gave a light snicker.

“Oh no, we *definitely* have a lot of pepperoni… But I think you have the wrong number?”
Shiro was silent for a moment, which quickly turned into two and then three more moments before a small whimper fell from his lips.

“I… can’t have a pizza?”
It was like his world was crashing down on him. With everything that had happened, being so thoroughly rejected, having so much just *not* go his way at all… Now the one thing he thought he had control over was gone too.
Shiro only noticed the tears spilling from his eyes when they tickled his cheeks. He sniffled, rubbing them away with the back of his hand. He smiled sadly, not sure if he should just hang up or not when the young man squawked indignantly.
“Ow, what? Really? Isn’t your shift over?” Shiro could hear some whispered speech through the phone but mostly he was preoccupied with trying to stop crying.

“Okay, okay…. Um, hey, hello I mean! A colleague of mine was listening in and wanted to speak with you? Is that okay?”
Shiro nodded at the question, soon realizing that no one could see through a phone. It was for voices only.

“Y-yeah…” The drunk puppy sniffled sadly, but he heard the click of his call being transferred. Why would a wrong number want to talk to him?
Shiro speculated that it was a scam, he would be out one million dollars and his other arm unless he hung up now. But a *very* sad part of Shiro absolutely craved human companionship. He needed to speak to someone, anyone, and in turn would be happy to listen.
The phone clicked again once more as another man began to speak.

“I heard you’d like a pizza and, well, how about I stay with you until you can get exactly what you want?”
Shiro audibly gasped, the man’s voice was like a chorus of angels wearing assless leather chaps, hand feeding him a variety of highly sexualized fruits, while nefarious things were going on in the background.
“Ah… Yes?” The very shocked and drunk man aptly supplied, only to be rewarded with a choir of beautiful ringing bells that was the man’s laughter.

“Why don’t you tell me your address sweetheart, and I promise to get you that pizza, hmm?”
Shiro had never agreed to something so quickly in his entire life. If he wasn’t about to be murdered at the hands of whomever owned that godly voice, then he would die a happy man indeed.

---
(Good morning~~~)
“Now sweetheart, are you sitting somewhere comfortable? Maybe with a nice cozy blanket?” The man’s voice was soft and kind, sounding genuinely concerned for Shiro’s well-being.
After giving his address over the phone and listening to a few clicking keys, the man had asked if Shiro was drinking. Of course, he didn’t bother lying since he wasn’t very good at it anyway.
The owner of that beautiful voice hummed softly, asking Shiro to pour himself a glass of water before finding someone comfortable to sit.

“I have a special knit blanket my friend’s mom made for me. Is that okay?”
Shiro asked sincerely, making his way over to the couch to snuggle up with his glass of water. There was a pause over the phone and the poor drunk puppy worried he hadn’t given the right answer.
“That’s absolutely perfect baby, wrap that around yourself and get nice and comfy okay?” There was a hint of something joyous behind those words and Shiro couldn’t help but smile. That was, until the actual words finally reached his brain.
Baby. The stranger on the phone had called him baby and there was just… something mesmerizing about that. He felt this overwhelming need to hear more words from this man, anything and everything he could possibly get.
“What did you do today, hmm?” The man’s voice glided through Shiro’s anxious body like a cool breeze and he relaxed further into his plush couch. He thought for a moment, taking a sip of his water before responding.
“I, um, went to work? It was okay, didn’t mess anything up today…” Shiro’s voice grew soft towards the end, almost a confession of sorts. The last couple of days he had made a couple of unfortunate mistakes-
but thankfully his boss caught them and was understanding to say the least.

“Work is really tough. That’s why we also need to have some fun right sweetheart?” A hearty chuckle came through the line and Shiro shivered, furrowing his brow in confusion.
Was he attracted to this stranger's voice?! No, that wouldn’t do at all!

“O-oh… yes, you’re right! I go to the gym?” Shiro had phrased it as more of a question than an answer to the other man’s question.
“Hmm~ The gym wasn’t *exactly* what I had in mind for fun… But to each their own~ Do you enjoy working out? Or maybe you’re more of a yoga guy?”

Shiro actually giggled at the question-
quickly going to clear his throat but what did it really matter if a stranger heard him giggle? He answered that no, he wasn’t much of a yoga person. He usually did a fairly balanced workout, although he tended to be a bit heavy on the weight training lately.
“Oh? So you’re fit and muscular then hmm~ It would make sense that someone with such a handsome voice also had a gorgeous body to go along with it~” Those words practically dripped pure sex and Shiro choked on air and then tried to swallow unsuccessfully a few times.
“Baby, drink your water okay? Slow breaths, in and out~”

The poor drunk boy did as he was told, taking a few sips and clearing his throat. He really didn’t enjoy choking, he thought, before immediately sputtering the next sip of water out of his mouth.
“What’s wrong? You okay?” The voice over the phone sounded worried, and Shiro couldn’t help feel a swell of… something in his chest.

“I just don’t like choking, but then I thought I don’t mind if someone else was the one making me do it!”
Shiro snickered and absolutely beamed into the phone. He was beyond drunk and yet still so proud of his terrible, nonsensical jokes.

“... Oh my ~ Aren’t you a bad boy hmm~” The voice sounded like they were having fun and in turn Shiro was enjoying himself as well.
He quickly finished his water and listened to more questions, answering as best as he could. If he had lived in the area all his life, what his favourite animal was, were there any movies currently playing that he'd like to go see.
Shiro answered to the best of his abilities, admitting that he enjoyed the action packed adventure movies at the theatres, but preferred romantic comedies to watch at home.
Then there was a question he wasn’t expecting, but to be completely honest Shiro wasn’t surprised in the least.

“Baby? Why did you cry about the pizza?” The man’s voice was soft, not an ounce of judgement as he asked his question.
Shiro pursed his lips and actually whimpered before he could answer.

“I… was seeing someone… who was seeing someone else. When I confronted him, he sort of brushed me off and, well, I’ve been a bit down lately…” Shiro laughed sadly, shaking his head as he answered truthfully.
He wondered how the stranger would respond, if he would have pity in his voice or also brush aside Shiro’s feelings and tell him to move on. But before the stranger on the phone could answer there was a knock at the door.
“You’re pizza has arrived sweetheart so I’ll let you go… But before that, could I ask your name?” The man sighed softly, sounding almost worried as he asked his question. Of course Shiro had no issue with sharing his name, he probably should since that man also knew his address.
But to be completely honest, there was just something so innately trustworthy about him it didn’t seem like a big deal.

“Shiro… You can call me Shiro!” The still-significantly-drunk man answered with exuberance, going to stand and head off towards the door.
He heard a deep chuckle come from the man on the phone, and had to quell yet another shiver.

“It is my pleasure you meet you Shiro… I’ll talk to you soon~”
