Codependency interests me in fictional shipping because characters don’t have to necessarily be romantically together, but the nature of codependent dynamics often means they may be more involved with each other than even a typical romance. It’s an intense level of devotion.
Most of my ships are codependent and I’ve learned there’s so many different flavors of codependency. I just, love it. I think it’s fun to explore in fiction because in real life codependency often leads to unhealthy/abusive dynamics but in fiction it can be explored as the
Ultimate way to be close to someone. Being entertwined with their lives, it’s a complete fantasy. It’s soooo attractive to me in fiction because I can explore it and that appeal removed from the reality that being codependently involved with someone is suffocating and sucks.
I think fictional incest shipping follows a similar line of thought. The idea of two characters growing up together and being closer even though in real life the dynamics are very different.

Most of my fictional ships tend to be childhood friends, codependency, or incest ships.
