It’s okay to be sad and to feel hopeless. But you should know that we have built something incredible.

In 1912, socialist Eugene V. Debs got only 6% of the vote, but the reverberations helped set the stage for everything from the New Deal to the modern labor movement.
Over 7.7 million people voted for Bernie and we didn’t even get to primaries like New York where he would’ve gotten hundreds of thousands if not millions of more votes. That’s 7.7 million potential organizers. 7.7 million potential union stewards and protesters and future voters.
We have numbers folks. They have money, they can twist the process to do what they want it to do, they can slander us and box out young people and people of color from participating. But history is made by the movement of masses of people, not by elections. We can make history.
And if you don’t feel like you can put your hope in electoral politics right now that’s totally understandable! But we need you in whatever capacity you are capable of. We need to exercise power inside and outside of electoral politics. Bernie 2020 ending doesn’t change that.
