Average time between someone catching Covid-19 and dying is 23 days. We're not yet 3 weeks into lockdown. We locked down -well after- people were starting to at an increasing pace. And we did so around 3 weeks too late...

...if we had locked down three weeks earlier, with corresponding controls over flights and quarantining of visitors, then -every- person with Covid-19 could by now have been detected. We would be operating WITHIN the capacity of NHS diagnostics...

...by contact tracing the much, much smaller number of people with the condition we would by now be on top of the epidemic in the UK. We have the capability to do so, we had the capability to do so, all we lacked was political will...

...five and a half weeks ago our governments policy was to 'take it on the chin' to rapidly gain herd immunity, to sacrifice MANY lives to protect the economy. That policy has since backfired. Spectacularly. We're paying with more lives, and we've tanked our economy...

...herd immunity is not to be gained via. expending lives. Only via. vaccination. There is no moral or even scientific basis for the policy we have. The science didn't change. Our government belatedly realised they had called this catastrophically wrong...

...and the result is we won't be like New Zealand, an island nation who will see few deaths. We're on a trajectory that is going to be way worse even than Italy. Boris Johnson has, knowingly and with intent, chosen policies with the intent of killing many thousands of people...
