Okay. Trying to watch Star Wars again. This time starting with Episode IV: A New Hope.

The very title raises the question: what was the old hope?

Nonetheless. Here we go.
Cue epic music & crawling text. Why should I read when I’m at the movies and the movie is my native langauage?
We start with the assumption that empire = evil & rebels = good. WHY?
The models still look good decades later
First skirmish. Empire tactics appears to be a mix of medieval European w/ Ulysses S. Grant
Why did they not just kill that person when she shot to kill? LI’m
Twitter is being weird. Ignore abnormalities like in the previous tweet.
Hey! That’s James Earl Jones!
Regardless of life forms, why not shoot the escape pod? It had to have been important.

For being evil, the empire so far has been incompetent.
Golden robot has failed to learn from history. If you’re on the run you *do not* call out to strangers.
Small creatures have captured the cylindrical one. Safety in numbers people.
This meeting of the robots is like an entmoot. But the golden one and cylindrical one are back together.
The small creatures appear to be salvagers.
So apparently there’s a Bocce language. Is it related to the game?

And now I see Mark Hamill
@Celebmirril tells me the golden robot is C3PO and he can’t lie. Hmm.
A holographic call for help. This seems important
Knowing looks are rarely a good sign
Let the boy go to the academy why not
What is that magnificent hairy, horned beast?

And what’s up with C3PO’s aggression?
Isn’t this Luke’s home? How’d he get overtake by “sand people”?
And now Obi-Wan is telling Luke about his father. That escalated quickly.
Again with the empire as evil with no exposition.
And now he wants to take Luke to Alderaan. This seems like getting into a strange van.
Finally, some exposition regarding politics. Ruling through fear is icky, but there’s nothing yet that proves the rebels are in the right.
If the earlier battle is any indication, Storm Troopers are *not* precise. Continuity fail.
And now he’s nothing left to lose. Hm.
The exposition in this film is somewhat jarring.
Space Jazz. This could work.
Random violence. And the band continues playing.
Harrison Ford!
Everyone’s going to Alderaan. It’s a party I wouldn’t want to attend.
Some characters are far too trusting.
The millennium falcon is kinda cool.

I’m also beginning to find Luke slightly annoying.
Alderaan looks kinda like earth
Claymation games?
Luke’s training is like Pong in Space
Eyes can be deceitful? Let’s not even talk about instinct and feelings then!
So either space stations are really small or the Death Star is massive.
Again the empire appears more incompetent than evil.
Nice Trojan Horse maneuver.
There are questionable choices being made.
There are times I think the plot exists only to show off the setting/effects
One guy goes down despite clearly not being hit by anything.
“I’m sorry, the princess is in another chamber” lol
The three “protagonists” have met up.
Never say “it could always be worse”
