Here’s what we’ve found. a 🧵 (1/6) @domesticworkers
94% have had clients cancel due to #coronavirus, and 72% reported having no jobs this week at all.

And 7 out of 10 say they don’t know if their clients will give them their jobs back after the pandemic. (2/6)
More than 3 out of 4 are the primary breadwinners for their families, but 84% didn’t know if they’d be able to afford food for the next two weeks. More than half (55%) were unable to pay April’s rent. @domesticworkers (3/6)
In short, domestic workers have been some of the hardest hit by #coronavirus, with an overwhelming majority experiencing sudden and devastating unemployment. (4/6)
Domestic workers care for us & some are still working, yet they’re being left out of federal relief efforts. They lack paid time off, work for poverty wages, and lack healthcare for themselves or their families. (5/6)
Care workers are helping to hold our country together in this time of crisis. They should be cared for too. Those who are not working must be included in relief. Those who are should be supported & protected. #coronavirus @domesticworkers (6/6)
