If your political romance is all fluff and nonsense and doesn’t actually challenge your reader to question their own worldview then I’d argue that it’s not actually political.

I had people DNF Dissident because it was too hard for them to follow all the apparently complicated things I put in it. If you think a political romance has too much public policy in it, you don’t actually want to read political romance.
