I am 100% on board with making mainstream games more accessible to blind/visually impaired like the narrated menus in mortal kombat 11 but why stop there? Why not announce options when choosing fighter variations? Might take 30 minutes to record and greatly improve accessibility.
I know the developers mean well but why only do things halfway? Having only main and submenus narrated is like a talking 2005 cell phone which did the same. The user could do so much more if only the company would put in some time. You'd have more game sales from blind users.
Sounds like the MK developers at least are already getting feedback from blind players. Not everyone can afford or know how to set up an Xbox1 and video capture card in order to OCR the screen and spend minutes sifting through results hoping to find correct menu options.
Some day OCR will be 100% accurate and than blind gamers can go nuts. My opinions are coming from growing up in the 80's 90's and yes I understand gaming is different now. I applaud blind gamers who are playing games this way, just sounds like a lot of work and setup.
