My Post-COVID-19 society predictions. (Thread)
COVID-19 will force people to evaluate how they spend their time in the future. I foresee meaningful work-life balance strategies implemented, especially at tech companies. Those with resources will want enhanced living spaces for maximum comfort and entertainment.
Remote work and improved technology infrastructure will be part of updated Business Continuity plans at major organizations.
Michael Feroli, J.P. Morgan’s chief U.S. economist, who said unemployment in the US will peak at 8.5% as a result of the pandemic. I agree with his predictions.
COVID-19 was just a test run. People will be hyper-vigilant about future outbreaks. As a result, there will be more periodic government-mandated community stay-at-home/quarantine orders.
New real estate developments will promote gated communities with a self-sustaining urban mobility plan and environmentally friendly initiatives that prevent congestion and incorporates social distancing concepts.
Telemedicine will now become normalized and the preferred method for checkups. Physicians and nurse practitioners who leverage this technology will expand their practice globally from the comfort of their main office or home.
More health service providers will leverage data from wearable tech to help diagnose underlying health conditions by understanding patterns. Using a blockchain-chain based, decentralized P2P protocol to harness health data can facilitate a secure anonymous exchange of info.
There will be a rise in more exclusive spaces that may lead to the further disenfranchisement of vulnerable communities who can’t afford buy-in. The benefits of the groups will serve as emergency networks giving members access to in-demand products not available on the market.
Companies will stop centralizing their manufacturing in China. Latin American countries will offer companies incentives to move their manufacturing operations.
Although NYC is the center of business in the US, you get professionals who will start to move away to less congested cities/towns, primarily to raise their families and have space.
Property values for places like Wyoming, Montana, and Oregon will go up because the economic privileged will start buying property and land in these areas. I also see the emergence of eco-villages.
The EU is likely to dismantle in ten years. I predict Italy, Poland, and Denmark will be the next countries to break away from the EU. Nationalism will be the side effect of COVID-19.
I mentioned in another conversation that more parents would turn to homeschool and customized digital solutions to teach their children. COVID-19 has made some parents realize their children would
thrive academically in a non-traditional learning environment.
Don’t be surprised if you see a surge of med-tech and pharma-tech startups that focus on customizing medications and treatments based on gene mapping.
