I'm amazed at all these Twitter 'doctors' that claim to know more about effectiveness of COVID-19 treatments using chloroquine than the attending physicians that treated specific patients. Yet, not one of these Twitter 'doctors' has a medical degree let alone treated a patient.
They claim since it isn't specifically approved by the FDA it shouldn't be used for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Well, neither are about 20% of all prescriptions which are off label to treat something other than their FDA approved purpose.
Bottom line is for the specific patients in the US, South Korea, India, China, France, the UK, etc the chloroquine with/without another drug has helped those patients according to the actual doctors that treated them.
So, Trump haters, if you or a family member get sick from anything & are given a prescription, you better look it up for FDA approval for the specific ailment, if it isn't specifically approved you are free to reject it. https://www.drugwatch.com/health/off-label-drug-use/
I took chloroquine products on and off for about 29 years, never had a single problem. Some people may have problems, just like nearly ANY other drug. Why do you think so many list possible side effects?
If you think all drugs are placebo effect, then don't bother going to a doctor at all if you are sick, "Dr." Mark. You can just give yourself your own 'medicine' and continue on with your business since you know more than actual physicians that have treated patients.
I'm sure this guy disagrees with your disapproval of using cholorquine. https://nypost.com/2020/03/22/florida-man-with-coronavirus-says-drug-touted-by-trump-saved-his-life/
This guy likely disagrees with your assessment that an off label prescription doesn'thttps://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/coronavirus-outbreak-03-19-20-intl-hnk/h_42ddf8f804f1713ffd5eb9acac5ddf47 work in his specific case.
South Korea doesn't seem to have an issue with using it as treatment either. https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2020/03/12/South-Korea-experts-recommend-anti-HIV-anti-malaria-drugs-for-COVID-19/6961584012321/
Dr. Fauci when asked by a reporter if he'd take chloroquine if he contracted the disease said he would but would want it under a clinical trial. Governor Cuomo seems optimistic about it as well https://twitter.com/MSNBC/status/1241751277819789313?s=20
Gov. Andrew Cuomo conceded showed early “effective” responses in COVID-19 virus patients in current clinical trials, which he began allowing within the state two weeks ago. In fact, he asked Trump to send more to NY.
I'm sure this guy is glad he was able to try hydroxychloroquine. https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/coronavirus/nj-mans-battle-with-covid-19-led-him-to-experimental-drug/2347792/
Dr. Mark Seigel stated his 93 year old father in Florida was also treated with hydroxychloroquine while he had the coronavirus.
So, again all you 'experts' go tell these people that they are full of crap and it did nothing for them. Tell that to the patients in South Korea or India. Deny it to somebody in your family if they get sick or any other off label drug for that matter. You have your principles.
Also, you dismiss a French study as being done by a quack, yet it is on the NCBI under the NIH's website. So by their logic Dr. Fauci must be a quack because he's Director of the NIH. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/32205204
India has taken it a step further and started trials with 40,000 doctors & nurses in Asia, Africa, & Europe to see if it will work as prophylactic. Bill Gates is also funding a similar study. Spain is also. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/04/trials-drugs-prevent-coronavirus-infection-begin-health-care-workers
So, spare me your drivel that you know more than the actual doctors that treated specific patients. Another common denominator in real doctors against it is most haven't tried it on COVID-19 patients, some haven't even treated any.
These same people would deny "right to try" because the FDA hasn't approved it. Rather than give a person a chance on something that may work they'd rather they died. You know OrAnGe MaN bAd.
