Aight so now that Joe is the nominee let’s get real about a few things.
It is now Biden’s job to unite the party. Failing to do so will make it certain that Trump will win the general. And from what I saw before Bernie dropped out, he’s struggling to do that. He can’t just focus on moderate conservatives, but I have little faith in him doing so.
The allegations surrounding Biden have to be addressed by him and his campaign. Putting a woman on the ballot is nothing more than identity politics if you can’t acknowledge the women that have been victims of violence by men. Even when that could include yourself.
Biden will also have to change some of his policies. This goes along with the first point I made. I doubt this will occur though, especially with Medicare for all.
I say all this to say that I have little faith in voting for someone like Biden. Voting blue for the sake of getting Trump out of office isn’t sound argument when you think about what Reunp stands for. This isn’t the same as Clinton. This is actually worse.
Biden has a clear history of making and supporting policy that was racist, sexist, and xenophobic during his time as senator and even as vice-president. If that’s what we hate Trump for, then why would we like Biden for the same thing? A monumental change has to occur.
And I’m very aware that some of you may tell me to suck it up and vote, but it’s the candidates job to earn my support. Not the other way around.
