The COVID-19 emergency requires urgent action in every American community to get the virus under control. That must be our shared mission as Americans.

But when we do get it under control and begin the work together to restart our economy, we‘ll still have to KEEP it under control. A big part of success in doing that will depend on what happens in other countries battling the virus which have fewer weapons to bring to the fight.

That’s why, regardless of our politics, the ideas in this statement are worth thinking about.
