Burnaboy didn't lie. He didn't speak the truth either.

His premise is that we should keep the same energy when criticizing the govt. We already do that. He lied when he tried to insinuate not criticizing the govt is why we are where we are today. That's a fallacy.
He was on this Obasanjo's internet when Imam of peace happened.

There's also truth in his cannabis inspired anecdote in some ways.

When it was time to call out Funke. Everyone did it together. Nobody cared what party the other person supported.
When it is time to call the government out. It is different. People criticize and support along party lines. People are not able to come together to call out the government which is a major factor that has added to our condition today. Some people are paid to be the detractors
of those who criticize the government. Other ones just hope they get seen and also get paid to do same, so they do it for free now. It is all a matter of vested interests. It is not about what is right (Funke's arrest was the right thing to do) when it comes to criticizing the
government. It is about who you support. Some people were against the arrest of Funke too although easily out-shouted by those who thought the right thing should be done. Funke's arrest was not sanity but it was a semblance of it. Celebrities abroad know they are held to
a higher standard than the normal people because of the influence they wield and mostly act accordingly and when they haven't, they have lost deals too. That is what is sane. Over here, it is not that way because celebrities think they should also be above the law too.
But since the law is upheld by the same politicians and the different institutions they can influence. It is almost impossible for the "short" arm of the law to catch them regardless of how much people crave it. So yes, the youths keep the same energy. It is the govt that is not.
I also hope that Burnaboy's admonition is not borne out of a self-induced delusional bubble that he's above the plight of the average Nigerian youths. All his "una", " una". He might not have the same problems but he's not spared from the curse of being a Nigerian youth either.
