Look, at the end of the day, Bernie running really hurt progressivism. It invited a whole new level of vile, anti-hope politics into the conversation from the left that prevented it from being a true dichotomy from the right. He could have been a kingmaker, instead he's Icarus.
His team was mostly disappointing, and at times truly disgusting, his supporters were exceptionally gross to those who could have helped put him ahead. When we look back on this, we'll see someone who raised issues but was too politically incompetent to see that he couldn't win.
2016 killed him in the Party. The perception that he was anti-Democrat was absolutely not helped by anyone on his staff. The fact that he was the choice of progressive media does nothing but underline the fact that they have no political sense at all.
When the race started, he was my #2. Now, I'm just glad we'll never have to hear his name in a Presidential campaign ever again. If you didn't want Joe Biden, you should have picked better opposition. There were options. Better, less toxic options.
