It really bums me out to see tweets along the lines of “Bernie was the only politician I ever cared about and now that he’s out of the race I don’t give a fuck anymore.”

That’s not how you build a political movement.
I didn’t support Warren because I thought she was some savior figure, I just thought she was the best positioned to achieve the goals I care about. And when she dropped out of the race, I didn’t give up; I reassessed my options and tried to figure out the best course forward.
Politics *cannot be about individual actors*. It absolutely can’t. And it’s notable that on the right, it isn’t: lots of Republicans *hated* Trump until they recognized he was their best shot at getting their goals achieved and then they fell in line.
I’m not a Biden fan! I honestly don’t like or care much about most politicians! But that doesn’t matter because what’s important to me is *getting people who are persuadable in power*. And if not that, then getting people who aren’t actively evil.
If you think I can’t possibly understand the disappointment you feel, let me remind you: when I was eighteen I was *all in* for Ralph Nader.
Also, to clarify: this is not an anti-Bernie thread, nor is it a pro-Biden thread. I never liked Biden, and I still don’t.

It’s an anti-giving up thread.
