Gonna do a thread starting with this tweet of rapper/singer/album/or song recommendations based on artists you all like!
Quick disclaimer: Some of these recommendations may seem like musical comparisons, some are. Some are definitely not, this is just a “if you like _______, then you’ll really like _______” thread so miss me with that fuck shit 😎
1. Chester Watson

If you like Earl Sweatshirt, then you’ll love Chester Watson. He undoubtedly draws a lot of influence from Earl, while still creating new sounds with every project.

Everyone should check out his project Past Cloaks and the songs: Phantom, Spliffs, and Creed
2. Qari

If you like Mick Jenkins, then you’ll love Qari! A fellow Chicagoan til Chicago ends, Qari is 1/2 of the duo Hurt Everybody.

Check out his project with Greensllime, frequent Mick producer/DJ, called Operation Hennessy and the songs: What I Want and Billy Blanks.
3. MFnMelo

If you like Saba, then you’ll love his friend and fellow Pivot Gang member, MFnMelo! Melo popped up on my radar with his verse on Bad Guy on the Pivot album.

Check out his album Everybody Eats, it’s in my top 5 of 2019. Some songs: New York, Flow Seats, What a Life
4. D Smoke

If you like Kendrick, then you’ll love D Smoke! Known for his role in the Netflix rapping talent show Rhythm + Flow; Smoke, like myself, is a teacher who often raps in Spanish.

Check out his project Black Habits and the songs Free, Lights On, & Gaspar Yanga
5. YGTUT

If you like Isaiah Rashad, then you’ll love YGTUT! Tut is friends with Zay and also from Chattanooga.

His album Preachers Son is one of my (and @SHREKRAP)’s favorites of all time! Check out the songs: Holy Water, Bad Guy, Hangin, Prophecy, and Kairos!
6. Felly

If you like Anderson .Paak, you’ll love Felly! Felly sounds nothing like him, but I think he’s had similar growth from rap to a more genre fluid sound.

His newest album Mariposa really does not have a genre.

Some songs: Desert Eagle, Vices, Above Water, Very Special
7. Lute

If you like J. Cole, then you’ll love Lute! He’s a Dreamville signee also from Carolina that puts his soul in every bar.

His Liam Neeson bar in Under the Sun is top tier.

Listen to his project West 1996, Pt. 2, his work on the ROTD’s, and the songs: GED & Ambitions
8. Searching Sylvan by Sylvan LaCue (QuESt)

If you liked Under Pressure, then you’ll love this project! Sylvan went by QuESt in these days and signed to VMG.

I haven’t listened to much else since he changed his name, but this is great! It’s in my top 15 mixtapes of all time 🔥
9. Steve Lacy

If you liked Thundercat’s newest album, then you’ll love Steve Lacy! He’s a guitarist in The Internet and an amazing solo artist as well.

His album Apollo XXI was one of my favorite non-rap albums from 2019! Some standout songs are: Like Me, Playground, & N Side
10. TeeCee4800

If you like YG, then you’ll love TeeCee4800! He’s a California crip to the death and Ty Dolla $ign’s cousin who makes some west coast slappers.

His album Realness Over Millions 2 smacks from start to finish, Crippin with Vince and How Many Liccs with YG stand out
11. Teejayx6

If you like Danny Brown, you’ll like Teejayx6! There isn’t a musical comparison here, but both rep Detroit with every bar and have that same energy.

He’s scam rap than you need to rob someone to in order to fully understand.

Listen to Black Air Force Activity!
12. Travis Thompson

If you like Chance, then you’ll love Travis Thompson from Seattle!

I noticed him after a sway freestyle that he went CRAZY on and these 3 projects all go crazy.

Some great songs are: Say Wassup, Mobbin, Ain’t Shit, and True Religions
13. Woodie Smalls

If you like rapping Drake and Rocky, then you’ll love Woodie Smalls! I see him as a bit of a mix of these two and just recently found him after a fire song with Zay!

Go listen to his new project In Between Spaces and the songs What Typa Time? and Monopoly.
14. Zelooperz

If you like Earl and Danny Brown then you’ll love Zelooperz! He got the Earl co-sign on his track Easter Sunday and he’s affiliated with Danny’s crew Bruiser Brigade.

His album Dyn-O-Mite was a great 30 minute listen! Easter Sunday, Show Love, and Prozac are fire
