If you've seen a thread going around attributed to a Spanish doctor named Angel Atienza in Valencia about steroid treatments they're trying at the onset of pneumonia, it turns out that he is real and the hospital he works at confirms his message according to a Spanish newspaper.
Which translates to basically, yesterday the hospital told this paper that Dr. Atienza exists, and he is an internist at the Valencia hospital and that text is true."
However, further down in the article, other hospitals are critical of Atienza's message, say that it lacks scientific rigour and that steroid/corticosteroids have already been tried with other viruses and the data that was published didn't result in their widespread use.
The critics also say it depends on the patient, that just doing the treatment to everyone at 7/8 days is actually risky and may not benefit. Essentially, it would have to be confirmed with clinical trials and there may not be sufficient evidence.
