Held an Instagram live today and these are some of the point share by Nadia on how we can take care of ourselves physically and mentally during a crisis
Anxiety is the most common reaction during a pandemic. Anxiety means one is focused either too much on what happened in the past or you scared about what will happen in the future. This means you are never present
Causes of anxiety might be due to job loss, financial setbacks, fear of what might happen, government directives etc.
The feeling of denial is normal during a crisis as well.
Different scenarios will impact how each one of us is feeling differently.
However, there are unhealthy ways we are using to cope with this season
1. Avoiding responsibilities, ignoring tasks & deadlines cause you dont feel it's worth it
2. Relying on other people to make us feel safe
3. Substance abuse. Be mindful about the dosage
Just cause we are going through a crisis doesnt mean we care less about our health.

Here are some tips on how to stay mindful during this season:
1. Identify emotions you are feeling. This is totally ok.
2. Once you do that, empathize with yourself then with others.
3. Be mindful of what you consume I.e conspiracy movies or too much news about the virus. Limit the consumption and rely on credible sites such as @WHO
4. Look for the silver lining in this. I.e Try out something new, spend more time with loved ones
5. Establish a routine. Structure your day. Without structure our minds get chaotic
6. Set boundaries. How long to be on s. media, define how you work from home
7. Focus on what you can control personally I.e your hygiene, social distancing. Let go of what you cannot control
8. Stay socially connected. Use online tools to connect with friends and family. I.e
zoom, house party
If you feel overly overwhelmed, reach out to a friend or professional. Even @MindMattersTZ Their Dm is open. Don't suffer in silence.

Thank you Nadia for sharing with us.

How to stay active at home:
1. Look out for instructors who are trying to connect with people virtually
2. Allocate time daily for exercises be it 10 or 20 minutes
3. Most importantly, get dressed for the exercise you choose to do
4. Overall, eat healthy
Keeping yourself fit gives you a good chance of fighting diseases.

Stay safe.
