You know what's a bug out? Hearing speculation about how African-Americans are dying from #COVID19 at alarming rates because of pre-existing conditions like hypertension, diabetes and heart disease - with no actual proof that the Black people who died had any of that shit.
I mean, MY first guesses as to the "why" were saaaaay...healthcare inequity for poor people of color all over the country (seriously, how many of the dead were uninsured) and the accompanying reluctance to go to a hospital and rack up a bill you can't afford to pay...
I've told the story of how I inexplicably lost like 70 percent of my vision in undergrad. Because I'm a fat Black woman, I got tested for diabetes 5 TIMES. I'm not diabetic. I've never BEEN diabetic. 5 TIMES.
Black people, I want us to remember who, at the height of a deadly global pandemic that DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE, looked at stats of us not surviving and convalescing from this disease, and BASICALLY said, "Welllllll, you knoooow...obesity...smoking...Black-on-Black criiiiiiiime..."
Tonight I lost a relative I only met a few years ago and who I love to this cursed goddamn disease for several of the reasons I outlined in this thread. No condolences. When my mom died they were unbearable. And both their troubles are over so. Small mercy.
I'm just saying. ANYBODY can get this disease, but apparently, when Black people get it, it's our FAULT.

Fuck y'all. Unreal. Unfucking real.
I'm going to be gone for a little, I think.
