Dear @sainsburys my 84-year-old aunt is a retired #NHS ward sister. She and my uncle are in the most vulnerable group and she has been shopping in your Torquay Willows store since moving there in 1991.

She was told that being 84 and not in the best of health wasn’t enough for them to skip the queue, she had to bring her NHS ID/badge with her. So she did that, last week, and was allowed in.
/2
This morning, she went to the store at 8:20 (my uncle has mobility problems as well as cardio-pulmonary conditions, so he’s slow at getting ready). The man on the door wouldn’t let her skip the queue, even with her #NHS badge, despite this being allowed the other day.

I have begged them to let me set up online delivery for them (I live in NI so can’t do their shopping for them), but there are no slots available. She said “it’s ok, they’ve got safety measures now and I can skip the queue”. Then this happens.
/4
She rang me earlier in an absolute state. She’s always been incredibly independent and wanted to keep doing her own shopping, but didn’t feel safe. And now the one concession you’ve made has been taken away.
/5
I can’t believe the lack of compassion this staff member displayed to an 84-year-old woman - at any time, but especially in the middle of a pandemic when elderly people’s lives are at risk.
/6
So I’m asking you for help. Please tell me how I can get a priority delivery slot for my aunt and uncle. Because it’s clearly not safe for her to shop in your store right now, and they are distressed by their experience.
/7
I’m also asking @kevin_j_foster and @Torbay_Council for help. What is being done to ensure that vulnerable people are getting food and medicine supplies? I am in daily touch with them and doing all I can to help them, but my enquires have gone unanswered.
/8
I know you’re busy @sainsburys but I expect a swift reply to this. No matter what your policy is, it’s useless if your staff won’t put it into practice.
