Also, I do not know how to break this to you, but peasants were not the ones in arranged marriages.
Also the concept of marriage as romantic is a Victorian one. That's a five hundred year wait.
I know we are looking for happy endings right now, but "relationship structures will change 500 years from now as a result of our suffering" is a dark silver lining even if this premise was true, which it emphatically is not.
I realise I don't have anything written specifically on peasant marriage, but the people who *were * doing arranged marriages (rich people) pretty much kept doing that because the whole marriage = love thing is just SO NEW.
