We all start from different places but the basic requirements: any camera, some friends, a way to edit, ambition, humility. Join festivals or show it online. Whatever gets noticed becomes your calling card. 2/5
Film school not required (but go if u can). Just keep learning. From books, videos, your idols, your mistakes. Don't be afraid to mess up. I keep messing up all the time. Not even sure I should be giving career advice tbh. 3/5
Anxiety is an obstacle, but if getting a filmmaking career means the world to you, you'll learn to ride that anxiety (hopefully it's not the pathological kind) even if you never get rid of it completely. I've made my own anxieties manageable over time. Still have them though. 4/5
All the usual stuff for "making it" applies: talent, hard work, etc. But DUMB LUCK is also a big factor. So find ways to improve your odds by any means necessary. Just be nice to people at every turn. Be grateful. And never ever take yourself seriously. 5/5
