I think something that might help is resources for training/bonding with a bird that might have come from a bad situation. I should stress that a LOT of rescue birds will be just fine, but yes, there are some that have been mistreated that will need more time and understanding
compared to others. So part of me is like I SHOULD DO VIDEOS ON THIS. But then another part of me is like... okay, but you're gonna look like you lost it. Lmao for me at least a LOT of making friends with birds is noise based. If they like to make a certain noise, I will make it
back at them. I do this a lot with Queso. I also sing, hum, whistle, etc - especially if I find a song or melody they seem to respond to. I make all kinds of clicks and and strange sounds and keep doing the ones they like.

Conures in particular literally have a rhythmic
clicking noise you can make that signals "I am happy. I will not hurt you. I want to be friends." You can hear this sometimes if you give scritches to your conure in just the right place. I have video I'll try to find.

If I do this noise to Mango, she will copy it and snuggle
into me. I've seen it work with other conures too. Queso... I think Queso thinks he's a cockatiel so it doesn't quite work lmao. He has many other noises and whistles he likes to take turns exchanging with me though.

But lmao I fully realize all of this sorta makes me sound
insane and I'm sure on video it would look like that haha.

Anyway, lemme see if I can find video of Mango making the friend noise.
Here you go!
Lol like a dog kicking their leg when you pet the right spot
Me, trying to make videos: anyway, here's how to speak parrot. I'm not crazy. I swear.
