I want black women to experience a love that doesn’t involve grief.

People keep quoting this saying grief is inevitable. I understand that life comes with love and love comes with loss. God gives us people and needs them back one day, but that’s not the kind of grief I’m talking about.

I’m talking about the kind of grief that makes you want to become invisible, where your only understanding of love is directly tied to heartbreak, where love has only ever been a losing game, where no one has ever loved you correctly, so you can’t imagine a love that’s peaceful.
