I think this is complex and context specific. Firstly be authentic with your landlord. Some people are taking full advantage, for example they have a 40% reduction in revenue but are asking for 100% discount in rent. Most Landlords are willing to negotiate right now. Some are providing discounts, some are giving rent holidays but expecting payment on missing months at a later date, some are extending the term of the leases and want you to cover rates and taxes. It is important that you don't
act in a way that damages your long term relationship with the landlord, nor your credit rating. There are many lawyers out there that a helping small business negotiate pro-bono. The bottom line is be reasonable and fair to all parties. I have seen that most landlords are
willing to come to an arrangement.
