1/2 Many forget that Pres. Obama let IG/watchdog system deteriorate to the point that several corrupt IGs were forced out by congressional investigations and/or media reporting, including DHS IG, USAID IG. Also, there was no IG at State Dept. during entire H. Clinton tenure.

2/3 Grassley, a longtime champion of IGs and oversight, seemed to endorse some of what Trump is doing in this IG purge in that he is replacing acting IGs with permanent nominees.
