Oh yeah I finish translating all of the uchuu interview! This will be a thread summarizing it!
firstly the audition process! Even though Gai is a later appearing character, he still was at the beginning auditions and auditioned for Fuwa and Aruto. Even though he got to the final round, the announcement that he got a role was quite late apparently and he thought he failed
At the time of audition, Nachi doesn't think there was even a role for Gai to audition for and he only found out about the character later. He was quite envious at the first stage greeting because even though he was at the venue too he didn't get to go on stage and say hi, but
because of appearing later in the show he decided he wanted to make an impactful entrance. At the beginning he was informed he would be a rider but he wasn't told he would be the villain and details like Gai's age came later after discussing w/ the director
Nachi also talks about being part of the heisei rider generation and talks about growing up with riders like kuuga, faiz and hibiki. He remembers getting belts and figures and having a photo taken with faiz at a local hero show. He really loves rider so to be in zero one is a
dream come true for him. Even as an adult he was watching rider every week up until Ghost. Around Ghost time he noticed a lot of actors were a similar age to him so at that point he decided he didn't just want to watch anymore and wanted to be an actor within it instead.
When asked his favourite rider, he says it's Faiz! He thinks the design and transformations are really cool and the belt was really advanced back then for a toy so he used to play with it all the time as a kid.
When asked about his impressions of Zero One, he talks about it being the perfect work for the first Reiwa rider. He thinks that ten years ago, such a story around AI wouldn't have worked so it's a story that feels very much of the present. When asked about Gai as a character,
he says that Gai doesn't think he's evil, he thinks he's righteous and Nachi thinks such a person is truly evil. With developing Gai as a character, to start with the director told him to play Gai like an "unpleasant and stubborn" kind of guy and Nachi thinks that first
impression of Gai has carried on through out and has been gradually fleshed out. He's been trying to make sure his stance and posture is strong when playing Gai and also he's taken to observing people in their 40s for inspiration. He says that it's difficult to play a role
at an age he's never experienced and even though Gai says he's eternally 24, Nachi is 22 and doesn't even know what being 24 is like. In terms of other enemy characters Nachi is conscious of when being Gai he mentions Kusaka from Faiz, Frieza from Dragonball and Gendo from Eva.
With thoughts on playing a villain, when he read the script he initially thought "this guy is real bad" and realized he would be hated by the viewers. However, because Gai is a villain, Nachi takes people saying "I hate you" as a compliment and it energises him as an actor.
He tells a story of walking on set with Yuas actor Igeta and a dad and a child came up to them and asked for high fives. Igeta gave them high fives but when it came to his turn the kid was basically "I don't want to!" and the dad tried to say that Nachi is actually a good guy
but the kid still was like "I hate him!" Nachi thinks that being a villain you get interesting experiences like that but also he does say it's a little lonely... "Gai only does bad things to humagears though (laughs)"
He likes to look at social media after broadcast and he's like YES!! if he sees people writing stuff like "I really hate Gai!!" lol he says when he stomped Horobi he got a lot of hate as mbjnr are popular and he thinks Gais dislikeable factor is increasing every week.
Talking about his first appearance, he talks about coming on set and seeing the chess board and asking if he should try something with it. He didn't know how to move the pieces but staff showed him and then after that he learned about chess so he can move the pieces himself
He mentions that he thinks Gai is quite an inconsistent character with his words an actions. He talks about when Gai gave Aruto the metal cluster key because Gai wanted a strong opponent but even though he was left defeated in tatters, Gai was laughing and enjoying being beaten
up. He thinks that maybe Gai is just a weirdo. Speaking of, bringing up the marriage thing in episode 23, Nachi can't believe Gai was trying to get married during the fifth round of the jobs contest and was surprised at that scene too. Apparently it seems it was just decided
by the idea that Gai appearing for the scene would be the funniest and Nachi says director Moroda basically destroyed Gais character then. However he says "Despite being Amatsu Gai, having Gai getting teased allowed me to show another side to him and I’m also grateful for that."
He thinks Thousers gold and purple design is lovely and really cool. Since he likes W he was really happy to learn he was going to be transforming with two keys also. He thinks Gai being able to absorb the other riders powers is a bit of a cheat but that's why it's interesting.
Eitoku plays Thouser and to Nachi who likes rider, he thinks of Eitoku as a legend and therefore was very nervous to be talking and working with him. He thinks Eitoku plays Thouser really cool so he wants to also put all his feelings into playing Gai because of it.
Regarding his henshin pose, he talked with Jun Watanabe the action director and Eitoku about it and they decided a pose to make him stand out from the other riders. He talks about struggling at first with inserting the keys in without looking but after Eitoku teached him and
spending some time practicing in the bath, he can now do it without "no look." "I'm smiling when I get it right, so please check it out on TV (laughs)."
"The henshin sound "Presented by ZAIA" is impressive."
"Until now, there's been no riders who have had "©ZAIA Enterprises" appear in their special moves, and I don't think there will ever be any in the future (laughs). Thank you so much to the directors who came up with this!"
When asked about his relations with the other cast members he says everyone is good friends but he's particularly close to Fumiya (Arutos actor) and apparently sometimes stays the night over. Fumiya cooks for them and then Nachi does the dishes. He also goes out to eat
a lot with Jins actor Nakagawa as they're similar ages and they both talk a lot with Yuas actor Igeta who they do a lot of scenes with. Even though he only showed up kind of in the middle of production, everyone was kind and they quickly became good friends.
When asked if he wishes to be a villain until the end, he says he wants to remain a villain and even be the "last boss" but he thinks with Jin returning and the take over of Hiden, he thinks some things will change. He's also interested in seeing the changes between Fuwa and Gai
and he can't wait to see what will happen in the future and he thinks viewers share a similar sentiment. When asked about Project Thouser he explains that it will show what Gai has been doing behind the scenes before his appearance in the main show and he thinks it'll connect
everything up. He believes people will be able to watch the main series again in a different light after watching project thouser and he thinks to get a full enjoyment of the main story you definitely need to check it out. He's also very fond of it as a work.
Finally a message to the viewers!
"Gai, now at the top of both Hiden and ZAIA, what is he trying to do? How will Aruto who has been kicked out of Hiden stand up to him? You won't want to miss what's to come. It's full of interesting elements, so don't miss a second of it!"
