This clusterfuck on a global scale and isolation has giving me way too much time to think. As a creative running with self doubt for at least the past 5 years it's not one of the easiest things to go through. It has possibly made me more self aware of things though. (1/10)
As fair warning this is now the rambling of someone who has slept for 5 hrs of the past 48.

I'd like to say I had a fairly successful business that I essentially self imploded because of that self doubt. And when that business is your identity you're lost. (2/10)
In passing conversations I'm frequently referred by others as "used to be a photographer". I still am. One that would rather delete anything made then show. But I still am. Although I might be more of a "used to be". And that used to be covers a lot of ground. (3/10)
But I also want to stick up for creatives. Yes I hate my work but I value it. And I see way too many of us not valuing our own work. And with everyone stuck in isolation right now its us creatives who are providing the distraction. Maybe this will help you see your worth. (4/10)
Maybe it’ll also help show the general public the worth of creatives. It’s a dream. One I don’t fully believe but anything is possible right? Unfortunately I've been in too many situations to say otherwise. For every pick up there's 3 or 4 that knock you down. (5/10)
My sleep deprived brain developed this hypothetical scenario that might help show what we sometimes face.

You, Joe Public, are throwing a party and you want the best show for your party. You think of what you like and narrow it down to Dave Grohl (FF) and John Legend. (6/10)
You eventually pick Grohl (obvs) and get excited. You talk beforehand. You know his history, his longevity and track record. You watch him do a killer soundcheck pumping out The Pretender. Five minutes before showtime you head backstage, tell him you loved it, perfect. (7/10)
But then even though you picked Grohl (FF) because that's what you wanted right before the curtain goes up you give him a list of all Blake Shelton songs you want him to perform. That's it. No Foo, no rock.

You don't hire Grohl to be anything besides Dave F'n Grohl. (8/10)
But that's exactly how creatives get treated way too often. We have a history of work, people hire us off that history, it's visible, audible. But then when you start creating they want you to recreate or mimic and not do you. (9/10)
So creatives please value your work if you don't. If you don't no one will.

And be you. Don't stop being you. (10/10)
As an addendum: I'll be funny again soon. Promise.
