🦠🇧🇷🇨🇦🇪🇺🇦🇺🇪🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇺🇸🇩🇪🇫🇷🇬🇧🇮🇹- UPDATE April 8th
@RaoulGMI #COVID19 #COVID19espana

Global confirmed cases should reach the 1.5 million mark today...
Yesterday we saw the largest daily jump in deaths with 7,380 deaths related to covid-19 , of which 820 came from French nursing homes (France is still catching up with the numbers from nursing homes so it does not necessarily mean that all these deaths happened in a single day)
Nevertheless, total global deaths jumped over the 80,000 mark...
While the number of global recoveries has just reached the 300,000 milestone...
Even with the French reporting mess, the number of net cases is still declining...
... due to the big jump in recoveries...
As I have been explaining for few days, since April 3rd France has been adding cases and deaths that are occurring in nursing homes.
While this is the correct thing to do, the method is questionable as they are simply adding these large numbers at the moment when they are reported... this is skewing the data dramatically...
... additionally, nursing homes don’t report on weekend, so we don’t expect to see real consistency for some time...
And, as a result, our European curve is a bit messed up...
Just to help you visualise this point, here is the curve minus the French data; a top is definitely forming...
Italy’s situation is improving, they “only” reported 3,039 new cases yesterday...
The number of daily net cases decreased dramatically...
In the UK, it was a sombre day, reporting the most deaths in a single day with 786...
As of today, there will be more than 50,000 active cases in the UK...
It was another big day in the US, with 33,331 new cases...
Bringing up the total number of confirmed cases to 400,000...
There were 1,970 deaths in the US, by far the largest number reported in a single day by any country
Since yesterday, there have been more deaths in the US related to covid-19 than during the 2009 Swine Flu...
In New York, there were more than 10,000 new cases reported...
Bringing the total up to 142,384...
New York reported the most deaths in a day with 731...
Bringing the total deaths up to 5,489...
Brazil reported their most new cases in a single day with 1,851...
... and the most deaths in a day with 122...
