Over five years the UK left has gone from entering labour to push it to the left via momentum to now trying to push momentum to the left by making it more democratically structured in order to in the long term win labour back from the centrists.
Corbynism began with the promise of creating grass roots social movements but the very nature of parliamentary politics is to focus on conflicts within the political party and winning elections. The consequence is that instead of producing organisers they produce party activists.
The means you engage in determine the ends you arrive at irrespective of your intentions. Elections mobilise people to knock on doors telling strangers to vote rather than to organise with others in order to engage in direct action. They don't build working class power.
