how to use twitter search: a thread!

this thread was mainly to help me but u can use this too.

words/phrases

“all of these words”
if you want any words in a tweet (regardless of order) just put the words into the search as is

“this exact phrase”
for all the words you want in a specific order, put quotation marks around them

“any of these words”
if you want to find tweets talking about two things but they don’t have to both be in the same tweet, put OR between words
place in brackets if you want one thing but one of the other of another

“none of these words”
put a hyphen/minus in front of the words you don’t want included in a tweet

if you want to find all that have embedded a video, copy the video link and paste it into your search bar

accounts

if you want a tweet FROM a certain account search “from:(their @)” (and whatever words you want)

if you want a tweet sending TO someone (ie, replying directly) search “to:(their @)

if you want to find all that have mentioned someone, search their @

filters

if you want replies only, search “filter:replies”
if you want links only, search “filter:links”

if you do not want replies, search “-filter:replies”

engagement

if you want to tweets with over a certain number of replies, search “min_replies:number”
(same with likes and retweets)

this ONLY works with minimum though, you can’t find tweets with maximum

dates

if you want tweets FROM a certain date, search since:yyyy-mm-dd

if you want tweets TO a certain date, search until:yyyy-mm-dd

language

if you want tweets in a certain language, search lang:(language code)
tho idk all language codes so it’s best to use advanced twitter search for this
