Totally agree with all of this. Some district judges clearly out of control. What happened to the criminal procedure rules? what happened to the disclosure rules? What happened to article 6 rights?

I think it is most important that district judges are warned that not with standing the crisis and emergency procedures they must absolutely follow existing law. I do not like the concept of DJs personally. I do wish to make clear that my criticism is not of particular district judges but of the whole concept. It is dangerous to have a paid cadre of lawyers administering justice. Lay benches can infuriate but on balance they are less prone to ‘interpret’ law and regs to suit HMG.
