The silent pressure and unspoken expectation of our arts industry to have us all transition into web hosting, digital content creating, online entities is frustrating. Without a single convo about intellectual property, data security & the lost value of human and material culture
Watching our team struggle to build capacity for projects that were never intended to live online has been fucking hard. At every turning point in this journey artists are being asked to compromise either their vision or IP security. There is a reason FAGOGO doesnt exist online.
In recognising our privilege, if there& #39;s any group that could achieve it, it& #39;s us. We have the collective skill and resources and toolkits to do it. But the question of purpose and need still has to be addressed at some point.
Our collective have used the internet since day dot to engage audiences and create hyper visibility. But the internet has changed in the last 6 years. Its no longer a safe space and the push to have us all sharing our practices in such unprecedented ways is a problem.
Anyway our team& #39;s building an online home for our Biennale of Sydney project which will launch this month. Working on this has taught us much about the value of our public programmes & our community building practice. FAFSWAG is a social practice & we cant w8 to get back to that
