We're continuing our #DiversityDictionary series with coronavirus-specific terms. There's so much new lexicon entering our everyday language, that it can be hard to keep track. Prior to the pandemic, many people may never have heard of the word 'furlough'. (1/5)
But in the era of #COVID19, we hear it several times a day. It is a temporary leave of employees due to special needs of a company or employer, which has been put in place by governments around the world due to the economic strain of the global #coronavirus pandemic. (2/5)

Depending on what country you live/work in being furloughed will mean different things w different implications. Although in theory, it is a measure for financial security, there may be mixed emotions related to how we value ourselves in relation to work in modern society.(4/5)
