Would Sebastian Vettel have won the 2018 title if it weren't for his mistakes? (A thread)
Baku 2018: Locks up at the SC restart and goes from 2nd to 4th. (6 points lost)
Total: 6
France 2018: Hits Bottas on the first lap. Would've probably finished 3rd but finished 5th. (5 points lost)
Total: 11
Germany 2018: 25 points lost.
Total: 36
Italy 2018: Not including this, i'm sure anyone with 3 brain cells would understand there's little Vettel could've done considering the fact that he was right behind another car and how much apex speed he was carrying. Racing incident.
Total: 36
Japan 2018: Not including this either lmao, Verstappen didn't leave a car's width and Vettel went for a late lunge. Racing Incident.
Total: 36
USA 2018: Finished 5th and would've probably finished 3rd had he not spun so 5 points lost.
Total: 41
Hamilton ended the season with 408 points to Vettel's 320.
408 - 320 = 88
Vettel lost 41 points to his own errors (if you included Japan and Monza it would be 51) so either way he's still 47/37 points short.
Bottomline: Vettel wouldn't have won the championship either way because Mercedes outdeveloped Ferrari in the 2nd half of the season hence you cannot say Vettel bottled the 2018 championship since there was no championship within reach to bottle anyway :)
Special mention to this guy, how could I ever forget 😂
