Just going through Leeds United's 2018-19 accounts. They show an operating loss of £36m & an annual loss of £21m. Will provide more detail later #lufc
So, just to be clear this period represents the transition from Heckingbottom to Bielsa & the costs associated with that change including his staff & alterations at Thorp Arch etc. The player sales in the period are the £15m for Ronaldo Vieira & Jack Clarke. #lufc
The figures do not include the sales of Pontus Jansson, Kemar Roofe & Bailey Peacock-Farrell. Despite the losses shown the club is confident of working within FFP as the current year (19/20) will reflect better with revenues in excess of £50m. #lufc
18/19 shows an increase in turnover by £8.3m to £49m with gross profit rising from £32m to £39m year on year. The subsequent losses are largely down to wages as Bielsa, his staff & high earning players arrived. Administrstive costs, which includes wages rose, by £22m. #lufc
Total wages across the business were £46m & the amortisation of players’ costs (spreading of cost of transfer over length of contracts) rose from £8m to £12m. The effects of the sales of Pontus Jansson, Kemar Roofe & Bailey Peacock-Farrell will fall into the 19/20 accounts. #lufc
The increase in tangible assets by £2.5m is down to improvements at Thorp Arch & hospitality lounges like the Bremner Suite & Legends Club. #lufc
Helping the big hike in revenue was the average attendance imcrease from 31.5k to 34k during the period. #lufc
It appears loans of £22.7m from Aser (owned by Andrea Radrizzani) were made to the club during the year with £5m being paid back. #lufc
The contingency for bonuses for playing/coaching staff & office staff entitled to them upon promotion stood at £20m #lufc
I understand that some matchday staff, as of last night, have been furloughed which means they will have 80% of their earnings paid under the govt scheme with club topping up the other 20% for the games yet to be played during the period of suspension due to coronavirus. #lufc
Remember the players had already agreed to defer their salaries to help the club & its staff through this period. Club trying to navigate financially through the pandemic via these methods & money from PL & EFL so its not relying on tax payers’ money. #lufc
