Quite depressing to see sections of the press closing rank around what is and isn't appropriate to say about the PM. For some people politics is not simply a battle of ideas. It's a force that has damaged and disrupted thousands of lives. 1/2

What's even more ironic is that some now lecturing their viewers/readers about what not to say are among Boris's most popular and regular critics. Boris's image as a man unworthy of compassion has been cultivated in part by same media outlets and figures now fawning over him

We have commentators who practically made it their bread and butter to call Boris a liar every day for three years. Cite his personal conduct as evidence he was unfit for office. That's fair enough. But don't feign indignation that so many now couldn't care less that he's ill.
