#Twitterstorians, does anyone have the May/June 1944 War Diary for the 13/18 Hussars? Specifically I'm hoping to see their movement orders for the move from Petworth to Gosport on 2 June to work out the locations of a few more photos (I've got this one, see below) đź“· IWM H 38988
After the Battle's D-Day Then and Now got this location from a local resident, Ernest Asprey. It's just as well as the location has changed so phenomenally. It's the A27 in Paulsgrove north of Portsmouth. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/50%C2%B050'49.0%22N+1%C2%B005'47.8%22W/@50.846931,-1.0987917,554m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d50.8469306!4d-1.0966031?hl=en
I'll admit, I was sceptical, but the key identifier is the Harbour Lights pub in the background with a distinctive facade and roof. The surrounding area is so different changed now that trying to find the location without a lead would be impossible. So thank you Mr Aspey!
