What HobiCore really is, a fashion oriented explanatory thread.
Every ”core” trend associated to the other members actually fit what their fashion sense (out of schedules) reflects, but not Hoseok’s so here’s a thread about his.

1• Alternative usually colorful shoes - Hoseok doesn’t wear pairs like white FILAs he usually settles for diverse type of snickers that won’t normally be seen on idols. He does have a special affection towards Air Jordans and sandals (are we surprised?)

2• 90’s inspired baggy shapes - in the tradition of old-school hip hop baggy was THE predominant shape of clothes the artists used to wear. Hoseok usually doesn’t wear extremely form fitting clothes, especially when it comes to pants, and sweatshirts!

3• Street vibe - Hoseok has a very casual-street vibe to his outfits, which effeicieny combines comfortable YET fashionable clothes. Heavily inspired by the 90s as well.
4• Oversized shorts - do I really need to explain myself? Though the last two pictures are a transition to the other main dimension of his style aesthetic: the casual-chic.
5• Casual - Hoseok does have this versant to his aesthetic where he tends to wear what we call “basics”, which are non temporally outdated pieces of clothes such as the large trench, the combo shirt-pant, etc. The way he combines them is what makes the outfit interesting.
6• Neutral tones - people don’t seem to notice that Hoseok doesn’t wear many colorful outfits, he mostly settles for neutral tones, such as light brown, beige, kaki, light blue, black & white. He has worn bright yellow pieces but the color mainly comes from his shoes/accessories
7• The play on patterns - probably the “closest” segment to what y’all call HobiCore alongside the accessories one (with a lot of nuances), Hoseok pulls-off outfits with patterns that are either pop influenced/patchwork-ish/basic patterns, usually it’s one piece of the ensemble.
8• The play on genres - Hoseok will never hesitate to combine pieces that wouldn’t be used in the same outfit because they’re not in the same style category. ie: leather jacket: casual chic, sweater: street, turtleneck: basic, sweatpants: sportswear, boots: casual chic/rock-ish
9• Accessories 1/3 - out of schedule, Hoseok doesn’t seem to wear a lot of necklaces or rings, but he does have a rather colorful retro early 00s aesthetic when he does wear rings/bracelets, as seen for the CNS shoot (btw #CNS150M) and EGO ( #EGOto50M)

10• Accessories 2/3 - BEANIES ! Hoseok wear so many beanies and sometimes switches to bucket hats, snapbacks. They really do give a more laidback, almost street vibe (bucket hats) to his outfits.
11• Accessories 3/3 - Bags, Hoseok has so many different type of bags it’s actually insane. He will sometimes use them as a piece that will bring either color or a new stylistic dimension to the outfit.
More bag pics because I’m OBSESSED, THE TASTE this man has...
In conclusion: Hoseok’s style, just as his personality isn’t one-dimensional. His versatility and alternative yet trendy fashion sense is what makes Hobicore what it is. You don’t have to wear bright colours, nor have 19392 rainbow stickers on your face to fit the Hobicore genre.
You have to be original, fashion forward, you to take risks with your styling choices, add a twist to what already exists and make it YOURS. Hoseok’s brand is his personality, and his outfits actually do reflect that, we understand his philosophy and general tastes just by seeing
ONE outfit. Stop being manichean, making Hobicore into one specific thing when Hoseok’s thing is actually to be able to pull off anything. His brand isn’t restricted to 🥺🌈. Listen to his music, know what his passion is, just with that you understand why he wears what he wears.
