Really surprised at the selection of animes now in Netflix, so okay I’m going to make a thread about it. What animes are worth watching, personally curated by me.
Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei: [The Tatami Galaxy] This anime has rediculous fast subtitles, it jabs at the subtle metaphors of the fast paced college life hence why the fast subtitles. College is a myriad rollercoster of adventure, it will surely resonate with you one way or another.
Psycho Pass: If you like crime, murder, and solving puzzles, this one’s for you. Psycho Pass offers great suspenseful, good old police chase action flick. Stellar animation and OST. Bloody, cool, futuristic dystopian setting, what more could you ask for?
Devilman Crybaby: Non-stop blood pumping show, this one’s not for the faint hearted, grotesque and assertive. Japanese rappers, beatbox, underground. You might want to check this out, and the narrative direction and music is just immaculate.
Baki the Grappler: [You can watch this without watching the previous Baki animes] If you like over the top, BOLD shows wait till you see this fighting anime. BAKI DOESN’T TAKE SHIT FROM NOBODY. This show is filled to the brim with testosterone. Once you start, you can’t stop.
Little Witch Academia: If you like cute magic girls doing cute magic girl things. LWA is for you. You will never get bored of this show, it offers a bubbly and well shaped narrative. All the characters are likeable and it’s nice to just see cute anime girls every once in a while.
Megalo Box: (Spritirual succcessor of my fav anime) If you dig the underdog, rags to riches type of story. Look no further, Megalo Box offers great emphasis on the coming of age story. And tackles the hardship it presents head-on, in the ring. MUST WATCH FOR BOXING FANATICS!
Carole & Tuesday: If music is your passion, you’ll definitely be in shock when you hear the voice actors sing in this anime. In a future where human made songs are running scarce, these two young ladies ride thier crusade to stardom. Listen to the songs in YT, you’ll be amazed.
Black Lagoon: If you prefer that run and gun style of show, where everything is like from a mission of GTA. Behold, Black Lagoon is a story of merceries doing mercenary things. Again, pump-action, lots of guns and blood, violent and sheer savage. No rest for the wicked!
Nozaki-Kun: If you prefer something light and a bit more at ease. Nozaki-Kun is one of those romcoms that actually worked, since most romcoms are formulaic in nature. The abundance of charscters make each one stand out and likeable. Who doesn’t like to see the Highschool life?
Gintama: Gintama doesn’t get enough love it deserves, if you just want a good laugh during the quarantine & chill period. This one’s for you. It doesn’t really have a solid narrative but it pays it back tend fold with its comedy. Don’t worry there’s a lot more Gintama episodes.
Spice and Wolf: If you like to be laid back and just take your time and enjoy the rest of your days. Spice and Wolf provides you the peaceful and quirky journey it presents. Watch the marvelous misadventures of Holo and Lawrence as they embark to their new life.
Shingeki no Bahamut: [Rage of Bahamut] If you love fantasy animes, this will surely top your charts, very underrated imo. In a world where Angels, Demons and Humans co-exist. One faction will surely try to trample the other. GODLY ANIMATION, and best of all FAVARO! BEST MC EVER!
Gantz: If you think Hunger Games was cruel enough wait till you see this, it will look like child’s play compared to Gantz. Battle Royale anime, the strong survive. NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. Bloody, grotesque and morally challenging to digress.
Shirobako: This anime is about how an anime gets made and the processes it undergoes before it airs. In close inspection, this is basically K-ON but instead of tea and music. You get voice acting, directing and other anime jargons. Cute girls doing cute anime things!
Beastars: If tou think having animals as characters is a mistake, think again. They’re probably more human than us. Beastars tackles real life struggles like racism, depression, sex, it’s not afraid to dive right into topics that haven’t been into the limelight.
Hellsing: You wanna laugh and have goosebumps at the same time? Hellsing offers you all of that, it perfectly balances comedic relief and serious situations. He’s more than Dracula, or Alucard or the Vampire King. He’s the charismatic, enigmatic and unpredictable immortal being.
Steins Gate: If you fancy time travel gimmicks, behold. Steins Gate offers a complex narrative yet somehow manageably unfolds it effortlessly. Also the cast of characters really make this show brimming with life. A good story, a quirky yet loveable cast, a scientist. You name it!
To end this thread, there are a lot of more amazing to good to sub-par animes in Netflix. I’m honestly surprised by the wide arrey of variety. I didn’t put Jojo, Full Metal Alchemist, HxH, Trigun and the like because you’ve known them long enough and they’re already popular.
