When I was staying with Babaji for the first time in the Arundhati cave, close to the Vasishta Gufa in #Rishikesh, I used to sit in, padmāsana, close my eyes and try to meditate.

Repeated attempts with no success.

One day Babaji smiled and said, “you can close your eyes but can you shut your mind up?”

I said, “no, trying hard.”

“Theek hai”, Babaji said, “now untangle your legs from the Padmasana. Sit comfortably in Sukhasana. Face the river. Open your eyes and look at the #Ganga.”

I did as he said. Sat quietly looking at the flow of the river.
It flowed, not stopping even once, the greenish blue water, pure and clear, and my mind flowed calm and tranquil, smiling in freedom.

When the mind flows effortlessly like the river, it carries away all the dross.

Life is a ceaseless movement. When you arrest the flow, it becomes a stagnant pool.

The flowing river forms it's own embankment. It needs no artificial confinement. But we try to stop the flow and then direct it into our little pools. The stagnant pool breeds mosquitoes. The flowing river cleanses.

So be the witness-free, watching the river flowing freely, begin in freedom and end in freedom, for, the journey is as important as the goal.
Into the ocean of infinite peace we flow.
